Plan the perfect Autumn Wedding celebration!
Fall is one of the most popular times of year to plan weddings, and it’s easy to see why. Enjoy the aroma of spiced pumpkin, rich bold colour schemes and breathtaking outdoor scenery. An Autumn wedding really does have so much to offer. Now that we’re in the height of the season of crisp fallen leaves and striking golden colours, we thought we would dish out our favourite ideas and tips for the perfect Fall ceremony.
Indulge in the rich, warm colours of Autumn by incorporating deep reds, chocolate browns, and lavish purples, with eye-catching splashes of warm oranges and golds. Inject these earthy tones into your floral bouquets, bridesmaid dresses, ties and pocket squares and general decor to really nail that autumnal feel. This time of year is all about those vibrant, rich colours, and they truly create a beautifully rustic, timely aesthetic.
Mix together Calla lilies, roses, hydrangeas and dahlias, with mini decor pieces such as conkers, mini pumpkins, berries or squashes. You can choose to stick to lighter shades of pink, peach, soft yellows and reds, or find a darker tone with rustic brown, burgundy and purple. Remember to stick to one colour scheme across the board, so that everything ties together to create the perfect feel for your autumn wedding.
Dresses and Suits
Autumn brings you magnificent colours and fantastic photo opportunities, but it also brings that cool bite in the air. If you opt for outdoor photos (and why wouldn’t you!) then it’s worth considering keeping your bridesmaids warm. Invest in some shrugs that fit in with the colour scheme, or stick to cream. They don’t have to be expensive, but they’ll just keep that chilly autumn wind at bay whilst you snap your pics.
Grey suits look fantastic when combined with subtle hints of deep purple or orange. The simplicity of a grey suit, white shirt and then a pocket square and tie in a colour of your choice will look fabulous.
Flower girls in white, with coloured sashes are perfect for tying together the colour scheme. Rather than a basket, consider having them carry down coloured confetti/ flower petals in a pumpkin to drive that Autumnal vibe home.
Go traditional with a hearty lamb dinner, with mash, mince sauce and candied carrots, or serve up roast pork and spiced apples. These are highly popular and traditional meals associated with autumn and will be sure to fill and warm the bellies of all your guests.
If you’re going for a more casual, homely feel, offer a heart shepherds pie or hot pot, with roasted vegetables. These comfort dishes are some of the nations favourite, and will guarantee full tummies and lots of smiles!
Arguably, the biggest bonus to an Autumn wedding is the opportunity to get some great photographs. Outdoors is where it’s all at. The colours of fallen leaves provide the perfect backdrop for some stunning shots. Immerse yourself in the natural changes that Autumn brings for the most authentic, timeless wedding album anyone could hope for!
Splash colour everywhere, from invites and table decorations, to your wedding cake. Hint at Autumn (and halloween if you’re a fan) with small decorations such as wild berries, conkers and pinecones, rustic floral pieces, pumpkins and squashes. Candles also hint towards the cosiness of Autumn and also set a romantic tone, perfect for your wedding.
