The Perfect Stag Do Guide
You made the best decision to come to Newcastle Upon Tyne for a Stag Weekend as there is an unbelievable range of actives, bars and restaurants, so how do you choose what to do?
Here at Stag and Hen we want to tell you about the best of Newcastle Upon Tyne (which doesn’t just include alcohol, believe it or not) and suggest the best ideas for your Stag weekend. So, where do we start?
Here at Stag and Hen we would never want you to get ‘Hangry’ so here are a few of our favourite cafes/restaurants in the city. Blakes are known for their ‘Full English Breakfast’ so if you’re in the mood for a hearty meal to set you up for the day we would recommend it. Harry’s Bar Newcastle is a lively establishment that we thoroughly recommend for Lunch/Dinner, best known for their mouthwatering steaks. If you love Burgers (who doesn’t?) The Fat Hippo Underground is the place to go. They have a wide selection to choose from and we believe you’ll never be able to look at a burger in the same way again.
Some of the Stags groups like to incorporate a little sightseeing into their activities and what better place to go than Newcastle’s iconic Millennium Bridge down by the Quayside. The area is Filled with restaurants and bars (one being The Bridge Tavern). The Quayside is a place where everyone has something to enjoy and believe us when we say the Millennium Bridge is magnificent especially at night. Do I hear there are footie fans in the group? Newcastle United’s St James’ Park is situated in the heart of the city and even if you don’t support them it is definitely worth a tour.
After sightseeing is out of the way, the Stags might be feeling competitive and what better way to unleash your competitive streak than a game of bowling. At Lane7 you can enjoy a range of activities which also include mini golf and beer pong. However, maybe the Stags are more into Pool and Snooker? Well, Newcastle can provide tat also. Spot White is situated near China Town and has more Pool and Snooker tables than you can imagine. Sounds too good to be true? They also serve food until 6am (I mean, c’mon, who doesn’t love a cheesy chip at 4am?)
WHERE TO GO?
If you’ve watched Geordie Shore you’ll probably know that there is a crazy number of clubs to go to, so here at Stag and Hen we decided to split them up into sections to see what suits you.
If you aren’t staying on Osborn Road and you haven’t heard of it, you’re missing out. Jam packed with burger joints, bars and booze. Osborn Road is in the heart of Jesmond and is definitely somewhere to visit on your Stag weekend. You and your friends can take advantage of the bar’s Happy Hour buttons (Bar Blanc, Osbornes and Spy Bar to mention a few) that offer discount drinks before heading into town for a boogie.
Situated Just down from ‘The Gate’, Big Market is an area that houses fantastic bars such as ‘Flithys’ and ‘Bierk Keller’. Over the last few years it has grown in popularity and although it is known as the cheaper version of The Diamond Strip (mentioned below) if you want an extremely fun and less expensive night out these are the places to go. At Bier Keller they are no strangers to dancing on tables and drinking steins, so if you’re looking for a once in a life time experience it is a MUST. At Stag and Hen Newcastle we can also guarantee you a table for your perfect night out.
The Diamond Strip
As mentioned above The Diamond Strip is known for a classy night out, situated on Newcastle’s central street Collingwood (which is close to Central Station). This area is known as the place to be and as much as we love a good Stag Do costume we wouldn’t recommend them for the Diamond Strip. Clubs such as Madame Koos House of Smith and Florita’s are situated here which always make for a good night out. Remember, at Stag and Hen Newcastle we provide every single customer with a FREE VIP nightlife card which allows you FREE ENTRY into clubs such as the ones above. Another place which is worth a visit on The Diamond Strip is Revolution. This funky bar used to be a bank building and is worth a look inside even if you don’t stay.
Now, let’s get down to the activities. As mentioned above, Newcastle can provide more than just alcohol, here at Stag and Hen Newcastle we want your Stag Weekend to be as personal as possible. We offer ‘Stag Packages’ that we’ve created ourselves or ‘Create your own Stag Package’ which allow you to build your perfect package to suit the group. With a vast range of activities to suit all, it’ll be hard to choose your favourites, but here are ours.
The Crystal Maze.
This puzzle base activity has just recently opened and aren’t we glad. You Stags need to have great team work and a lot of brain power to complete nine different challenges within an hour to escape from King Tut’s Tomb. Where do we sign up?
You don’t have to go to Las Vegas to have a go on the slot machines and tables. In Newcastle Upon Tyne there is more than one Casino to go to, so why not get suited and booted and pretend for a night that you’re James Bond. Whether the Stags are watchers or players it makes for a great night out for all.
We couldn’t suggest activities without mentioning paintballing. It is one of the more popular activities for Stags and can get booked up quickly so get reservation in early. With Stag and Hen Newcastle you get your first 100 paintballs free which is even more of an incentive to have a go at this activity.
Mentioned above are only a few of the fantastic places you can visit in Newcastle Upon Tyne. There is so much this city can offer for Stag Dos and after you visit once you’ll be coming back for a taste every year.
*Note: Here at Stag and Hen we encourage parties to have a great time. However, we do not condone excessive drinking and although some of the activities we are suggesting above involve alcohol, know your limit. Individuals need to be aware that excessive drinking can have severe consequences on your body.*
